World Toilet Organization was founded on 19 November 2001 and the inaugural World Toilet Summit was held on the same day, the first global summit of its kind. World Toilet Day (19th November) is designed to draw global attention to the sanitation crisis – Signs & Lines showed its support with a donation to www.worldtoilet.org.
The statistics are alarming:
> 1 in 3 people lack access to a toilet
> 1 in 10 people lack access to safe water
> women and children around the globe spend 125 million hours each day collecting water
