Our year 3 Apprentice, Phil, has been very busy at TAFE recently. Here's a bit of a run-down on what he's been up to in his own words ...
"One of our projects this year at TAFE was to create an old Pub sign with a modern spin.
I firstly designed the sign using Sign Lab. The background board was then cut out on the flat bed router using 10mm MDF sheet. After the board was sanded and primed, it was ready for the burgundy finish. A spray mask was then used to create the dark pink outline around the sign.
The title ''Captain Phillips" was laser cut, using 5mm MDF, and then primed and painted black. I used vinyl cut lettering for the boarder around the painting and for the yellow inside the lettering. The final image in the middle was painted with water based acrylic on a 5mm MDF canvas."
