numerous ideas and countless hours of skilled labour – well blended to come up with a decent finished product. Working in the background at Signs & Lines are many wonderful people putting thoughts into action, and in our regular ‘SignPost’ feature, we’d like to share some of their viewpoints with you!
BUYING POWER ...
Let’s start with our ‘’tenacious terrier’’ Purchasing Officer, Rachel! Rachel has worked at Signs & Lines for over 6 years and currently is in the hot seat when it comes to sourcing products, purchasing, evaluating suppliers and vehicle maintenance. When Rachel was asked the following questions, here are her thoughts:
Girls are undoubtedly better shoppers than men. Based on this fact, does that make them better Purchasing Officers?
‘’After years of sharpening our elbows ready to barge our way to the front for the EFY sales it would be a difficult task for anyone to out -shop a girl with a decent purse and an acute need for some shopping therapy!! And since we all know that men don’t need therapy, it is us girls who know how to get the best bargain and procure small miracles!!
No, but being serious ... it is my belief that you are either careful with money or you’re not. I know plenty of sales that know how to give a credit card a good workout and who are bargain savvy!! So I would have to say NO, it doesn’t make girls better ... there are just more of us femmes who get more practice at getting more for our money".
Outside of work what’s your favourite thing to buy and why?
Apart from Cirque de Soleil (which was brilliant), the best musical concert I’ve been to was Alicia Keys – whose vocal perfection just mesmerised me. I went with my sister and it’s one of the best memories I have - even though I ended up with horrendously sore calves from walking the wrong way to the bus, a tender stomach from laughing so much and major cheek ache from smiling! It certainly put a different slant on ‘value for money’!"
