Is blogging a waste of time?Presenting my research to the company
by Darrel Griffin, Signs & Lines' Business Development Manager

Is blogging and social media interaction a waste of time for our businesses?

Let's face it, if it is, we should stop it. Right now.

Or is there more to blogging and social media that we need to consider?...

A huge thank you to everyone involved! Your moral support and donations made the whole experience way more bearable!

My original fundraising target of $1000 has been completely blown out of the water thanks to your generosity and hopefully my hair will find a nice new home on a child whose life has taken an unfortunate turn.  Here are some vital statistics:

Number of Girls to be helped by the campaign: 4 million
Fundraising update: $4,190 [as at 25/9/13]
Heads Shaved so far: 3
Shavers: Tull (S&L) & Andrew Vitalich from Precision Hair
                                                                  Tears Shed: 0!
Days until Josie heads to Vietnam & Cambodia: 156
Distance to be cycled in Vietnam & Cambodia: 399km
Maximum distance to be cycled/day: 86km

Hope you enjoy the snaps (evidence!) below!

What a Champ!

Mark Elsing fronted up to the shaver last Friday (20/9/13) with a confidence I can only hope to emulate tomorrow. Thanks for losing all your locks for the cause Mark. I hope the weekend winds weren’t too chilly and the pink wig came in useful!

My thanks to Maeve for organising the Morning Tea, and all those generous folk at Programmed.

"AAARRRRR! It's Talk Like a Pirate Day, me hearties!"

Some of Signs & Lines' scurvy-ridden lot dressed up as pirates for International Talk Like a Pirate Day 2013, and to plunder pockets for our chosen charity Because I am a Girl.
Much fun was had by all (and a little too much fun was had by some, mentioning no names!). Needless to say the office has now gone very quiet as everyone nurses their sore throats. Pass the throat lozenges, please.
Here's some photos, too. I apologise that so many include Dunken Chest - but he sooo loves a selfie.

"I had no idea what to expect... but it certainly wasn't this!"

That's a typical reaction to a visitor's first encounter with Signs & Lines facilities in Midvale, Western Australia.

For many of our clients, however, taking a couple of hours (or more) out of the office for a 'physical' tour of a supplier's premises just isn't a luxury that can be afforded.

The solution? Introducing Signs & Lines' very own Google Virtual Tour...

Hands Up! Who wants the Directors to get the chop?

YOU DO !!!!!

SHAVE DAY: Tuesday 24th September –4pm!

Thanks to amazing support from colleagues, friends, family and work supporters, Signs & Lines Directors, Josie & Mark, will undergo a major chop for charity in under 2 weeks time!

WHAT CHARITY? Plan’s ‘Because I’m a Girl’ Campaign. One in every three girls around the world is denied an education. Every day, young girls are taken out of school, forced into marriage and subjected to emotional, physical and psychological abuse. For more information:  http://www.becauseiamagirl.com.au/.

WHY A HEAD SHAVE? Josie says “For me the shave is personally very confronting and stretches my limits in terms of what it means to be a girl, albeit an older one!” Mark is coming along for the ride!

FUNDRAISING TARGET? Well, it was $1000 but due to some amazingly generous people that target has been busted! It''s now $2000 and we're very close!

HOW CAN PLEDGES BE MADE?  All money pledged goes directly to the charity. Every little helps - please support me using this link to the fundraising page: https://cycleforgirls2014.everydayhero.com/au/josie.

OTHER SUPPORTERS?  This is AMAZING. Mark Elsing from Programmed Property Services is doing the head shave too. He heard about the madness and wanted to join in! Unbelievable dedication to the cause. http://www.programmed.com.au/index.php/services/property-and-infrastructure/property-services

WHAT ELSE IS HAPPENING?
The head shaves are just a small part of a total fundraising target of $4000. In November Josie is hosting a Quiz Night (more on that to follow).  Ultimately, Josie has signed up to bike ride 400kms through Vietnam and Cambodia in Feb 2014 and will be visiting a community in Cambodia that is directly benefiting from the funds. Today we welcomed Google Trusted Photographer, Marianne Annereau, to Signs & Lines. Marianne photographed our premises with some pretty impressive-looking kit, and will now weld the images together to create a virtual tour of the facility, which will go 'live' on Monday 9 September.
If you've never had a look around Signs & Lines' facilities 'in the flesh', we think the Google Virtual Tour will prove to be the next best thing. We look forward to your visit!
