Christmas festivities with Santa in da house!

21/12/2015

It's been an amazing year for Signs & Lines on a number of levels. Our team is flying high with some outstanding work in all facets of signage and our clients continue to be delighted with our polish and professionalism.

In true S&L tradition, our Xmas BBQ wrap up last Friday embraced our team's many personalities (!) and gave us all a chance to breathe a sigh of relief that the holiday season is just around the corner.  Santa sent a ring-in who arrived just in time with his toy reindeer (Rudolf was resting up for the big night ahead) and dished out gifts for all, including some bubbles gifts for our little guests who enjoyed attacking everyone in sight!

WARNING: To the uninitiated some of these pictures may cause concern!

Barebones Signage Conundrum

21/12/2015

Ever wondered what signage lettering looks like before it gets displayed on the wall? These barebones elements are waiting patiently to be installed at their new home this week. The backs of the letters have been set with LEDs so you will see them shining brightly, looking lovely and glossy, once in place.

Our team are working through the night all this week to ensure that Christmas shoppers and revellers are not impacted by our work.

But where? There are some clues in the letters ... have a guess where you will see these next time you're out at the shops?

A new addition to our Fleet

This week marks the anticipated arrival of 2 new additions to our team.

Firstly we await news of Cain's baby who was due yesterday, but is clearly deciding to give his parents a few more days of nail-biting wait -  maybe it will decide to come down the chimney with Santa on Christmas Day!

Our second arrival is a new addition to our Fleet in the shape of a sparkly new work van for Peter.  We're calling this an early birthday present for Pete, who celebrates his 60th birthday on January 6th and as our longest serving employee (over 20 years!) deserves these lovely new wheels!

Superman Effort to change up Perth's Skyline

"Is it a bird, is it a plane...?"  No, it's a flash, bright, new yellow beam perched high up on a building up there amongst the lights and stars!

For a few weeks now we've been teasing you that it's coming, and today we can proudly announce that it has arrived. The skyline around Mounts Bay Road in Perth's CBD has been changed for the better with a bright yellow beam over 12 metres long and some very distinctive letters representing one of the leading global professional services companies.

Manufacturing and installing signage of this size is not without its challenges. Our project team toiled around the clock to ensure that our works in the City had minimal impact on commuters, bus depot traffic flows or any of the business community.

It's fair to say that this exciting new signage could not have happened without the exceptional team of Superheroes who went above and beyond to ensure it was completed on time for the big unveiling last weekend. The words of Christopher Reeve seem very apt, "I think a hero is an ordinary individual who finds strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles."

Getting in the festive mood

Lovely to see some of Santa's little helpers at Signs & Lines last week to help dress our tree and make our reception area look decidedly Christmassy.  Hope you are all getting into the festive mood with only 10 days to go until the big day!

Waterwise - have you dropped 2 yet?

Anyone that knows the author well will understand why this sign resonated with me more than most. For I am a water nazi ... aka the water police ... or just call me just water wise (that's my preference!) and I get almost feverish when I see water being wasted.

That's why I had to showcase this WaterCorp sign we did last month. Have you dropped 2 yet?

Many man hours, much thought and meticulous planning are almost at an end for this project. It has featured in various guises on our social media pages but the over-riding aspect is YELLOW.

The final reveal will be this week but in the meantime here are a couple more shots from last week in the Workshops to show our various stages of work. Any idea where this is going Sandgropers?

Shopping Centre Waves at Digital Signage

Australia's shopping centre digital invasion continues!

This month a major refurbishment at Pacific Fair, the largest retail mall in Queensland and the fourth largest in Australia, now includes the largest curved LED displays ever installed in Australia.

The displays take the form of multiple NanoLumens LED video displays suspended over the mall’s two key areas, the largest measuring over 10 metres high by 3 metres wide, built with a wave shape running through the display.

Digital Place Solutions co-founder Stephen Rubie said "The displays serve both to enhance the esthetic aspect of the shopping experience at Pacific Fair while serving as a powerful consumer engagement solution".

Confirming digital signage as important return on investment asset, he continues, "The displays are being used as a highly effective advertising vehicle that stops shoppers in their tracks … Advertisers are thrilled that their messages are being seen and retained by shoppers."
