The blank look prompted Jesse to explain exactly what was meant by the word 'gilding'. But once he had explained, my curiosity was aroused. So I headed off to the workshops to find out about the process.
Ian kindly allowed me to record our ensuing conversation, in which he explains what has to be done in order to gild some text on to an honours board (apologies for the background noise!)...
